Goal: Develop Theoretical Knowledge in Relevant Domains

How does this goal fit?

This goal is related to my concern with maximizing my current skill set, however, it is distinct in that I acknowledge that I am far from a master of my skills in developing theoretical knowledge, nor is my current level of theoretical knowledge enough to rest on. I am involved and interested in domains of knowledge in which human behaviours and technology development intersect – these topics change and progress constantly, thus I must devote energy towards following these developments on a regular basis.

Among the domains I see a need to develop my theoretical knowledge of are:

  • Quantitative and qualitative research techniques
  • Participatory design
  • Data representation design
  • Cognitive science theory relevant to technology and design
  • Cross-sensory interfaces and interactions
  • Inclusive design and accessibility

What activities will progress me towards this goal?

What resource(s) will I need to achieve this goal?

This is yet another goal for which a primarily independent approach is likely to fail – I need to focus on not only pursuing sources that can aid in this type of knowledge development, but form relationships with others who pursue such goals, and begin regularly exchanging knowledge and sources.
