Action: Practice Communication Design Skills

All forms of communication of one’s ideas and intentions as a designer are vital, and skills I believe I need to improve on, save for writing skills. In particular, to take my skill as a designer to a new level, I must improve at sketching and compiling visually appealing digital presentations.

What will I do to achieve this?

• Establish a regular routine for practicing sketching, if I do not have immediate coursework deliverables that provide opportunities to communicate via sketches.
• Use my planned summaries of practical and theoretical design knowledge as opportunities to create visual presentations and improve my skill at doing so.

Which goals/related actions will this action help me accomplish?

• Develop new skills
• Participate in and contribute to Perceptual Artifacts Lab

What resource(s) will I need to be successful?

Feedback on my efforts to improve at these types of skill is important, so as with many of my other goals and actions, I must involve my network in giving me a sense that I am progressing in my abilities to effectively communicate my ideas visually.
